Ride the Cyclone

Ride the Cyclone is a show about connection. It’s a game, it’s fun, it’s quirky, but also extremely human. I wanted to keep the game elements, keep us grounded in the carnival of it all. I also wanted to create a stark contrast with the lower, darker, more natural sounds of the physical world around them. What these kids have experienced is easy to play off and make light of when there are sexy cat ladies from another planet to draw attention, but the things they have not and will not live through are much more real and much harder to face. Yes, this show is as much of a ride as it tells you that it is, but it is also intensely honest through that glamour. Kind of like a traveling carnival. It knows what it is and it’s telling you - just because it’s covered in colors and paint and dirt and sweat doesn’t mean it's being dishonest. We’re all the same at the end of the ride.
